Laucke is proud to have the distinction of being the only Canadian disciple of the great Andres Segovia. Segovia chose Laucke from over 2000 guitarists to perform in his film at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which was televised throughout North America on PBS to more than 25 million viewers.

Segovia did not like flamenco; in fact he called it “musica de taberna”. During all Laucke’s studies with the master, Segovia never knew of Laucke’s love for the flamenco guitar, and his association with Paco de Lucia.
