In 2015, Michael discovered an amazing talent in the singer-songwriter Eva Ameisen. It is with the great of pleasure that we are now presenting small format concerts of the most beautiful, French romantic music of all original works.
Three works from the wonderful CD “Sans aucun doute” (Without a doubt)
Eva was born in Paris into a family of Polish origin. She grew up steeped in painting and music in the famous Parisian neighborhood between the Closerie des Lilas and la Coupole in Montparnasse, near the Jardin du Luxembourg.
Eva has been an author/composer and performer since her teens and has written over 300 songs to date. Her talent has earned her many awards in singing competitions throughout France, including First Place in the National Song Competition of France.
However her passion for music took a back seat during her career as doctor/specialist, where she was highly recognized.
After ending her medical career in France at the height of her art and fame, she recently decided to live in Montreal and is now concentrating fully on song composition and the music she loves so deeply.
Michael Laucke, overheard “Mon arrivée à Montréal” (“Arrival in Montreal”). He immediately fell in love with this song and porposed to accompany her on guitar, in his inimitable, masterful style.
This piece, composed and written in the form of retrospection after a year in Quebec, reveals Eva ‘s emotions in her new life in the land of Vigneault and Charlebois. Whether nostalgic, cheerful, upbeat, jazzy or blues, her romanticism is evident in every song. Her humanism takes us into a world of softness and kindness, where a very large portion is generously devoted to ‘the other’. For much of her music, Eva’s songs are inspired by her North and East European origins, and by the magnificent works, particularly Francophone, in the lyrics of Barbara, Jacques Brel, and Serge Gainsbourg.
